What a glorious send off nothing can go wrong!
Our adventure started from the Town Hall, as do all our regular Sunday Club Runs. It's a great place to meet and no different today! Family, Friends, dignitaries, the mayor and even Stephanie Peacock MP turned out to wish us well!
A few words were spoken, loved ones kissed and we were off down Regents street and along Schwabisch Gmünd Way to the TPT. Our guard of honour of 6 club members cycling beside us.
The guard of honour departed at Sprotborough except Mick Thornton who continued on with us to Cusworth Hall.
We were all so grateful to everyone who came to wish us well as we departed. Big thanks go to our cycling members who joined us!
We continued on going between traffic free paths and roads with little traffic. Also only spying one lonely plane in the sky.
Our first stop was at Thorne for some lunch. Refuelled we took to some stunning beautiful and quite roads travelling south of the Humber. Horkstow Hill was I first real climbing challenge. Once at the top the view down the valley to Barton upon Humber and the Bridge was amazing.
We got into and around Hull with some difficulty ( built up areas) and arrived for dinner at Ask Pizza for beer and Italian.
A short stop at Lidl for provisions and 2 miles later we were queueing to board the ferry. We chatted with a fellow Yorkshire cyclist who was going to Roubaix to start the Trans Continental Bike Race. Wow!
But what could go wrong!
One of the teams passports was two old to travel on. So our 4 became 3 as they boarded the ferry....
To be continued
